Have you seen the new breed of spammers?

We will always have spam here, it is the Internet afterall.
We do have some filters in place here that catch spam both from spambots and real live spammers.

But there is also a new type of spammer who signs up here and interacts with the members.
You can tell them by the link in their sig file.
It never points to a buildup thread, a webpage of their rig, but to the business that they want you to look at.
A lot of times it has absolutely nothing to do with Toyotas either.

The above member is from India.
121.xxx.xxx.xx is from India(IN) in region Southern and Eastern Asia

Then we have someone sign up and ask a question as in this thread here.

Notice further down that Milino posts a solution.
Looking at his other posts out of two, a thread from 2004 was bumped.

Now what gets interesting is that in the first thread I linked is that Mark and Milino are one and the same person.
Tracing the same IP they share leads us to India.

There are more of these type of spammers here than you can imagine.
Most spammers try first with their spambot scripts, and if that fails, they will eventually sign up the old fashioned way.

When I replied to the first thread at the top of this thread, it looked innocent enough to me.
But after that other member answered, the way the wording was aroused my cybermeter, and doing some homework I found out they are one and the same person.

If you see threads that look suspicious to you, please let us know.

What gets me is that spammers see the rule for no spam when they register here.
At least the "live ones" that sign up here, the spam bots do not read, so they do not see this message when you click on the registration link.

In other words, all they care about is spamming you.

It is easy enough to ban their accounts, but another one is always out there to take their place.

It often makes me wonder too when you see those get rich quick infomercials on TV that if they involve spamming forums to get members to buy stuff through the link in their sig to give them credit.
Forum Rules

ATTENTION: At this time, we are not accepting registration for users who use a Hotmail email account. Hotmail is notorious for sending the registration letters to your junkmail folder, and you can not get regged up with us. If you use Hotmail only, do a Google search for "free email accounts" and you can find a more reliable email account to use. We strongly support the practice of "treading lightly" and have no tolerance for those who do not.

Three simple rules:
1. No pornography!
2. No attacking members!
3. No spam!
Any of the above can get your account banned after looking into the situation.
Please see below for more details.
