Can you make the pics display the filename when you put the mouse over it. That way everyone can see who the pics are from.

btw I resized mine in ms paint. about 8kb.

Not without Corey letting me hack into his template. Since the image is produced dynamically and is one image assembled of smaller images, when it is seen by your browser here, it is one image. I could pass the component file names, but that would require changes in the forum templates to look for that imput. That is probably MUCH more involved then Corey wants to get at this point.

To much, just a touch to much.

So far I have received about 3 submissions of wrong sized pics.
If you do not see your rig up there, you know why.

The script will not resize your pics for you.
They MUST be sized at 133x100 to work.

A free tool to use is Microsoft's Powertoys "Image Resizer."
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...schelman2.mspx

I used it on mine this morning, and it can do all at once.
Get it here.

I was guilty of this 'cause some of my source pics were originally cropped to something other than a standard size (i.e., 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, etc).

So lemme share that 133x100 is the same ratio as the standard sizes. If your pics are cropped to anything else, then you'll have to play a bit with the source file (like recropping, padding the edges, etc.) to get the ratio correct.

Awesome work you guys...

THANK YOU!

We chose that size deliberately for that reason. The plan was to make this as easy as possible for the maximum number of people.

There's plenty of image savvy people on here, so if you can't figure out how to resize or compress pictures to meet the requirements, give a shout and I am betting someone will help you out.

I am playing with a script that will do it for you upon submission, but it can't really crop an image to make it look right. All it can do is mash an image to meet the requirements. If the ratio is different, it's going to look like hell...

Want to say thank you for all involved in getting this running. By far, one of the, if not the coolest thing we've done here.

I'll be getting some pics ready in the following days.

Still getting bad subs to me.
MS's Image Resizer does not always work when resizing them, you may have to try some other programs.

When saving a JPG, most (all?) of the programs I've ever used will give you some sort of way to specify the "quality" of the image. This is a tradeoff between compression and clarity. Look for an "advanced" button or some such right at the point you're specifying a filename to save - you may have to use a "save as" function.

More compression = less quality, but you'll be able to find a median that will get you in under the 10k file limit and you'll still be able to have a good clear pic.

I'm happy to help out with file conversions as well. Put together an email with your YT username, and the pics you want to submit. Send 'em off to ytresize@midiwall.com. I'll fix 'em up and then send them on to Corey.

If you guys will note... I used a "magic" username for the email. Once I'm done with this, I can set a filter on the server side and anything inbound won't even make it to the client side.

tee-hee.

Okay folks, I'm in the groove. Eric's and Ric's are done.

Bring 'em on baby!

ooo! one side note...If you're using Outlook, then please send the pics along as _Attachments_ (Insert | file), don't "Paste" them into the body of the email. I'm not using Outlook and it takes a couple of extra steps to pull the pics out of MS's "winmail.dat" file when you paste them.

Thanks!

Hey Wab... Do you have any hints for resizing from non-stock sizes? i.e., take a pic that's been cropped to 640x400 down to 133x100?

I've either been re-cropping the pic to make up the difference of the short dimension, and/or letting PS stretch a couple of pixels, and/or adding a bit to the canvas size then blurring the edges.

I took down my offer since you seemed to have it handled.

Easiest way I've found is to crop it to a stock size and then shrink it. I do that with all my website pics, as that is the only reason I learned. I don't do any fancy stuff...I prefer K.I.S.S.
