Attention All Yotatechers - We Need Your Help
As you might have noticed YT traffic is at an all time high and is only going to get higher as the weather gets warmer and folks start modding again. This is great!
What is not so great is that with the new influx of membership we have a lot of the same old questions getting posted over and over again. While we want the newbs to learn, it really gets old seeing the same questions 5 times in one day. I know many of you bear it, grin it and try to post up nicely and answer their questions, or you tell them to search and they get upset. It is a no win situation many times. YT is a pretty friendly place and folks go out of their way to help, but sometimes this help causes more issues. It is like "Feeding the Bears", if you don't encourage them to learn to search at the get go, they won't want to do it later (like some of you).
If it is a commonly asked question that you know there is an answer for, report the post (little exlclamation point on the left side of each person's post with an appropriate explanation in a sentence or two) and then PM that member the link to their answer. No sense clogging up the boards with 85 threads about what gears your truck has/needs.
In other words, we need your help! There is no way that all the mods can read all the threads and edit, move or delete all the things that need to be done every day. This is in addition to the normal things that should be reported such as F bombs, rules violations in general, spammers, pron, or anything else that you know shouldn't be here on YT.
The SEARCH feature has been improved and works well, the problem is that many of the newbs don't/won't use it and some of you veterans are getting lazy as well. Before you post a thread, SEARCH. Then try a or use the ultimate search engine for all the Toyota forums, SEARCH for it to find the thread.
Again, we need your help in reporting rules violations which include folks who just blatantly refuse to search or don't know better. It will help us to help them faster if you can help us.
Thanks for all your efforts and cooperation!

Good post Wab.
This echoes what went on last week and what you and I had talked about and I say I agree.
I appreciate the idea of us helping to Police the threads too......"Deputy Mods".
Not being a member of any other forum now or ever, I am not sure how things go. I have heard that some are not as user / newbie friendly as here....and tat's putting it mildly. So posting a vague or frequently asked question could be a bad idea there too.

On this topic, I know yesterday someone (no longer here) posted up videos on a new thread. No matter how "interesting" they were, they definitely were out of bounds for the parameters for YOTATECH.
If you think that maybe you shouldn't be typing or linking what you are in a thread , you probably shouldn't. If you need to be reminded of such and have blatant disregard anyways, then you don't need to be here.
I know we aren't a bunch of prudes here, but we all need to be reminded sometimes that the kids may be sitting right next to you when you are surfing YOTATECH, or the wife....or the boss if you are lucky enough to be able to surf at work.
Anyway, that's all redundant as far as it's posted in "The Rules"..........so YOTATECH Deputies, help keep this site safe for the rest of us.

Oh yes....to the MODS......Thanks to you guys, again.
You guys (and girl) put up with ALOT of BS on a daily basis.
I catch enough grief from being on here as often as I am, i can't imagine what it's like to have it be your responsibility. But in reality, if we all want to keep this site going, we all share the responsibility.

A person can get fired from their job for some of the stuff posted here.
It is one thing for your kids to see it or the porn pics that were posted a week back or so, bit some businesses like where I work will fire you for it.
Many places of work such as mine monitor all traffic.
In fact in the IP area I can see mine for work here and also the one that belongs to the monitoring station that follows me around to where I surf.
Where I work we are allowed to surf during breaks and lunch, but you must not visit content that over the top.

Aimlessly browsing the forums tonight and stumbled upon this
I would just like to extend my thanks to the members for helping out as they do; reporting posts and helping out
I've only been helping out on the forums as a moderator for a short time, and I'm still surprised at the amount of posts that are reported from everyone!
GOOD JOB GUYS AND GALS! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
I'm on here a lot, don't get me wrong, but as everyone else said, it's impossible for us to be everywhere all of the time... I wake up to my phone going off to emails almost every morning because someone has reported a posts!
