Hi cmna1---Found this valuable info on Jeepforum.com in a post.....hang onto this...it's interesting how varied the spring rates are between manufacturers....
cut/paste from this post......
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/fa...ements-638947/

From Rubicon Express customer service email to T.N. (November 2004):

The 3.5" TJ fronts are approximately 240 pounds per inch. Uncompressed free
length is 19"

The 4.5" TJ fronts are approximately 219 pounds per inch. Uncompressed free
length is 19.75"

XJ front springs
OEM is supposedly 147 lb/in rate.
Tera 4" TJ coils give 4.5" of lift on an XJ and have a 200 lb/in rate , 20.25" tall unloaded
Tera 3" TJ coils give 3.5" of lift on an XJ and have a 170 lb/in rate
Rusty's 4.5" coils give 5" of lift and have a 150 lb/in rate, 22" tall unloaded
RE's 4.5" ZJ coils give 6"-6.25" of lift on an XJ and have a 200 lb/in rate, 22" tall unloaded (RE ZJ coils are 240 lb/in)
Rustys 3" coils give 3" and have 150 lb/in rate.
Rancho 3" coils, at least the old coils give about 2 1/4" of lift on an XJ and have a very high 235 lb/in rate

RE's 4.5" ZJ coils give 6"-6.25" of lift on an XJ and have a 200 lb/in rate, 22" tall unloaded
Rustys 3" coils give 3" and have 150 lb/in rate.
Rancho 3" coils, at least the old coils I had give about 2 1/4" of lift on an XJ and have a very high 235 lb/in rate.
OEM is supposedly 147 lb/in rate.
OME coils give 2.25" - 2.5" of lift and have a 148 lb/in rate

OEM Old man EMU XJ is supposedly 142-147 lb/in rate. 17" length 5.25" diameter
OEM ZJ with 4.0 is supposedly 190 lb/in rate front and rear.
OME 930 coils: 160 lb. spring rate. 1.75" of lift on XJ
OME 934 coils: 180 lb. spring rate. The 934 spring is 35 mm (1.37") longer than the 930 spring.
The 930 is listed as a XJ or ZJ I-6 spring and the 934 is listed as a ZJ V-8 spring but is also used on the XJ. the 934 should give about 2.5in lift.

Tera 4" TJ coils have a 200 lb/in rate , 20.25" tall unloaded
Tera 3" TJ coils have a 170 lb/in rate

RE Rubicon Express 4.5in ZJ coils are 240 lb/in. give 5.5" ish of lift on an XJ 22" tall unloaded

Rusty's 4.5" coils give 5" of lift and have a 150 lb/in rate, 22" tall unloaded
Rustys 3" coils give 3" and have 150 lb/in rate.

Rancho 3" coils, at least the old coils give about 2 1/4" of lift on an XJ and have a very high 235 lb/in rate.

first of all, thanx everyone for the info!!!! i ended up going with the 125lb 14" springs.got the whole thing in in 3 hours including installation of the new bumpstops.this was easier than replaceing my freakin antenna !!!! the only reason i didntn go with the tj springs is because i was leary of creaking after time and tire clearance . its my DD and weekend warrior soooooo...im probably going to do a small bj spacer to even it out some.any suggestions on what size,i was thinkin the 1.5 would work?

I did the 1.5's to level out the 14" 125lb ZUK's I did in the rear on my 89 4runner. I think you'd be just fine doing the same. (I'm guessing it's the rig in your avatar?)

Same as Ricky, got the 14x 125 springs and used a 1.5 bj spacer to level it out. Now I have bilsteins all around and it rides awesome.

You have a part number for that set of bilsteins? Can't seem to find it.

Well they are the stock height, not extended. But they work just fine. I can grab em for you if you like, but I am sure you can look it up just as fast.

I'm looking for some that will let me droop down past 2" in the rear and not compress too much in the front. I can only afford those shocks once. I'll stop being lazy and look them up.

Ya...here's the links....14 inchers here and one has to only specify the poundage. I think the 100 pounders is just fine for most. I run them in my 01 Tacoma extra-cab.

The 12" coils are available in 125 pound and up rating

O.K ZUK, i was waiting until i could get some descent pics to post.To start out with ,the springs were sitting flat on the overloads and my bumpstops were missing!!,made a nice racket when you hit a big bump, basically frame on frame.sooooo, ,jacked up the truck to put jack stands under the rear end and took off the wheels, then put the jack under the hitch and raised the rear of the truck enough to take the weight off, then used a bottle jack in between the leaf spring and the frame and spread it apart enough to be able set the coil spring (125# 14")on my lower bump stop and from the inside of the frame, another little tip i just remembered,my bottle jack wasnt quite high enough,so i used the upper (metal) bump stop i had cut off as a spacer on top of the leaf spring to set the jack on...if that makes sense.
i used a long huge screwdriver to pop the spring into the purch that i made out of the upper bracket.when you cut it short the spring really fits great . i actually EASILY popped it in with a hammer.i also did about two turns on my TBs . heres some pics of before and after.

Nice cman1.....It sounds like it took alot to get the coil to pop in place....drop the wheel as far as it would go....bottle jack to stretch the leafs down even lower....and a BMF screwdriver. I guess that means that you have a better chance of finding ice in hell than a coil on the ground.
By the way, what's all that brownish red stuff on the axle housing/muffler/leafpacks?

Looks awesome...what a difference. Great decision going with the coils instead of AAL.

cman1-- Mind if I use the pics and text to make a link? Make ya famous .....at least with the Yota guys. The link will look something like this...I still need to copy/paste your text http://gearinstalls.com/cman1.htm

You have a lot of rust on everything. The frame is probably getting thinner by the hour. The cool thing about the coil is it now transfers a large part of the leafpack load to a stronger thicker part of the frame farther from the actual end of the frame. So now, the end shackles are not straining the hell out of the frame.
Looks like you have a solid 4 inch lift now. I like the rake look and don't see the need for BJ spacers. Others would want them.

By the way, you mentioned you cranked the torsion bars 2 full turns each. I did a similar thingh to my 87 Runner but I did it 12 turns each as I recall and that gave me a 1.5" lift. So, I figure that means that your 2 turns fixed you up with 1/4" of hardcore lift
