Went mudding and now my truck makes noise
I went mudding and went I got back on the road my front wheel started to crack, it started as a quite random cracking but when I was driving it to the gas station it got more frequent and louder, now it is always cracking but the car feels fine besides that cracking sound, what could be wrong?? I need help quick cuz I have to drive 10 miles home and don't wanna drive it if I'm risking breaking something major. Btw my ball joints are pretty worn out if that helps you

after driving do you feel alot of heat coming from the area where the noise is? If not it's probably safe for 10-20 miles but don't sue me if I'm wrong. You just need to follow your gut instinct you know the symptoms and truck better than us.

Ok well I drove it home and got it there fine but I'm thinking it's the cv joint now cuz when I looked at the axle, the boot was open and a lot of grease had escaped from it, the boots hve been broken for a while but haven't gotten to replacing the axles, anyone know where to get the cv axles?

i believe it was Oreiley's that has a LIFETIME warranty on their CV's..
if i would have seen the thread earlier i would have said its probably CV's..lol..mine make some noise sometimes..usually just over bumps though???lol
when your in there replacing them CV's you might as well get them ball joints replaced..they are fairly simple to change out..just a few bolts per ball joint..and yes check your wheel bearings too..might as well repack em..or replace em if they're worn at all

I know that was a bad decsion but when I saw all the mudholes I just had to do it! But I'm done wheelin, it's too expensive when you keep breaking stuff, I'm in college with no job. I'm keeping mine as strictly daily driver now
