I honestly know close to nothing about automotive repairs. I have searched the internet for two weeks now for answers. I plan to sell my 2001 Toy 4Runner SR5 but need some repairs before I list it for sale. The VSC Trac, Trac Off, and check engine lights have been on for a month. The front end shakes when I accelerate. I have received internet advice from some helpful people and I appreciate it but have not had much success. I am low on dough and do not want to sink a lot of money into this. The following is advice that I have received:

• Try this before taking it in. Pull the negative terminal for a few minutes and then reconnect. This will reset the computer and erase the trouble codes. If there is still an issue lights will come back on.~~I tried this and the lights went out, drove it for ten minutes and light came back on

• For now, I suggest you take a close look at BR001-04, and in particular the procedure on page 4 to perform the zero point calibration. It appears that you can do this yourself or could take it to a dealer. Obviously, though, you'd want to be very careful in deciding whether to attempt any of this yourself.~~I do not know what the BR001-04 is and since I want to do this myself, I need to know how to begin a zero point calibration.

• The p0505 code is an idle system control malfunction, the abs/vsc lights will turn on by default anytime the check engine light turns on, there is probably nothing wrong with them. There may be an easy fix for this, remove the air intake hose from the throttle body and clean the inside of the throttle body with some air intake cleaner and a small brush, clean all the carbon out then disconnect the battery negative terminal for about ten seconds to clear the code, drive it normally for about ten minutes, once the check engine light stays off the other lights will turn off as well.~~Ok, when I checked this out, I found a hose that is not connected to anything, see pictures below:

Then I received this information:
The first thing to check when u get a check engine light on a new car is your GAS CAP! This is a common problem where ppl don't twist their gas cap until they hear the click(s) and then an evap system code is thrown. If the cap is not tightened all the way. then tighten it and continue driving; then after so many driving cycles the Check Engine light, and the other two, will automatically turn off.

Another thing that sometimes happens is if your air filter was checked during the oil change it's possible a vacuum line was popped off accidentally ~~~I check the gas cap and everything looks perfectly fine, the seals, and tightened well!!

I really want to fix this hose myself and someone advised that I could use some epoxy and insert the hose really secure and it may solve the problem. Before I go through that, I want some more advice. I really want to work on this the next few days but rookie automotive mechanic here really needs some help!!! Please advise soon!!

I also received this advice about connecting the hose:
It's your air intake resonator that has the busted connector. Runs about $60 from an online dealer ($70 with shipping). Hopefully this link works (#15):

Or you could find a plastic tube at the hardware store that fits inside the hose and then epoxy the tube to the resonator. If your handy that would be the way to go. Unless you get really messy, most people won't notice.
~~~What size hose, and need some more details and how to do this. Apparently when I had some work done on my truck, the mechanic either broke this b/c there is no way that it just busted for no reason....IDEAS?
