So I tried the dielectric grease on the horn plate behind the steering wheel, but that didn't work. Sounds like it's coming from a little deeper, like behind the plate that houses the light switches on it. Are there some bearings or something back there? I really thought the grease was gonna fix it.

My bad, it's an 88 toyota pickup 4x4. I don't believe the pump is leaking and it has just always made the sound. I've had it about four years. I do believe it is in the column not far behind the steering wheel.

The pump is leaking. It is coming out of that little inlet pipe (has a shaft that goes in to the pump and screws in on the side). It's not leaking at the hose, it is leaking where the shaft enters the pump. Is there supposed to be an o-ring in there or something. There is one that sits flush near the bottom of the shaft, but seems like it could use another one closer to the top. I don't think this has anything to do with my steering wheel squeak, so I may have to start another thread.

I have experienced a similar squeak where the wheel rubs the plastic cover around the column. Usually just adjusting the covers fixes that squeak.

So I fixed the leak....just needed an o-ring. As far as the squeak, I removed the steering wheel and the plastic housing for the switches and there were the bearings. I removed the snap ring and the little plastic collar that separates the bearings. Then I just filled it up with grease and voila, no squeak. So, if the dielectric grease on the horn don't work, and Terry's idea of adjusting the plastic don't work, then try the bearings. Worked for me.
