Sputter at 3000 rpm

i got a situation on my hands and i need some ideas....

i just recently purchased a 1995 4runner with a 3vze from a mechanic at our local Toyota dealer, purchased for 2000.00 with 52,000 miles on it, when checking out the truck it needed some exhaust work and the plug wires were worn and cracked, previous owner stated that the battery was not all the way tightened down and he took a turn and it knocked the power steering pump, resulting in a spill of power steering fluid all over the spark plug wires, it was really humid the day i started having issues, went to start the truck on my lunch break and go out to start the truck and nothing.... popped the hood let the sun get to the motor for about 5 min and tried to start the truck again fires right up... me being a newbie decide to go out after work get new plugs and wires cause the wires needed to be replace i figured what the hell might as well do the plugs change out plugs and wires get everything back together and take the truck into town (about 15 miles) with no issues, stop by auto zone get some fuel injector cleaner for the truck and head to the quick trip... still not having any issues, fill up with gas put the bottle of fuel injector cleaner in the tank and hit the road, about 6 miles down the road doing approx. 65 mph there is a sudden jerk in the truck, she lost power for about 2 seconds and flashed the check engine light, only to resolve itself and keep heading down the road at about mile 13 there is another loss in power not as hard as the first but this time no engine light, kicked on the flashers and made it the remaining 2 miles back home, figured i would let the truck cool down and then try and take it out again, now the truck is going like there was never a problem, take a right turn up a very weak incline and the truck decided to rev up to 3000, and drop between 2900 and 3100 rpm but will not get past that point even if the pedal is floored, any suggestions as to what might be the cause of the problem, anything is greatly appreciated, thanks

Moved to the Newbie Tech Section.

Not going to lie, I didn't read the whole post but I would put my money on the plugs.

yeah i was kind of wondering about that i put denso platinum tts in it, the guy at the part store said that it came from the factory with densos and he said that the platinums would work just fine, what would you suggest about brands of plugs etc?
