again with an idea i had for my truck since i have 3 hoods
cut a hole in the hood right above the carb, and use some sort of flexable piping attached to the carb straight out of the hood to the roof, and just interchange the hood and intake when you know you'll be hittin water/mud that day out, had the idea, then i seen a couple of rigs in Four Wheeler mag in the top truck challenge running the setup http://www.cars2hand.com/upload/arti...d90662e05a.jpg

haha, sweet. I even have an extra hood to tinker with! Hell, I may even have something I could use for the tubing.

It looks like there are slight differences in the engines overseas than there are here. I just read the installation instructions and it sounds like the air cleaners are different from ours. I don't know, maybe I'm just tired....

i actually just noticed it said "Hilux" lol, so yea, it would be a different set up for overseas
take a look at the last post on this page, looks like a good base to add to and punch through the fender? i dunno what a stock carb air cleaner set up looks like http://www.wildyoats.com/vbulletin/s...ad.php?p=68022

it really wouldnt be hard to just buy the kit for fuel injection and plumb some kind of a intake tube over to the other side of your motor under the hood...

don't have the truck anymore, now i've got my 89 runners and i'm trying to think up a way to hinge the front headlight for a temporary snorkle with sewer drain line. Thinking if I can get a way to make the front headlight remove quickly I can just pop the hose on and I'm good to go

nice, maybe cut your headlight housing out and weld tabs to it, drill holes through and have the quick release pins to hold it in. Really hard to explain through the keyboard, you probably think I'm nuts.

no that's something I hadn't considered, weld in tabs with quick release pins or wing nut bolts to pop it out and go. Maybe like a clevis pin or something

my concern is that I run narrow tight trails so I don't want it sticking out much if at all, and I don't want it cutting into visibility. Another thing I've seen a lot of people do is cut a hole in the firewall and run a tube from the air box to the firewall behind the glovebox. Makes it a little louder in the cab but you're not going to get water in that thing unless you sink the truck and it'll keep dirt from flying into the intake.

I don't know if I would run it through the truck, I would think it wouldn't get much airflow that way.

I would still feel a bit more comfortable if it were on the outside above the cab.
