Showin Her Age

My 89' Runner SR5 is starting to need repairs. With all respect she's got over 250,000 (rebuilt about 50,00 ago) on her 3.0, has seen alot of dirt, and still roll down the freeways at 85 with no sweat. But things are starting to go bad. To list a few issues: the heater needs to be replaced, the leafs sag, rear end leaks, engine leaks (adding a quart ever two weeks), the shell is starting to leak, cv boots have small rips in them, throw out bearing whines, shifting is really notchy and occasionally needs to be shut of to get out of gear (esp. reverse), and the steering wanders slightly. She's 100% stock and still has the sticker on the glove box with the 4x4 instructions! Honestly shes really clean in and out just the mechanical is in need. I'm a full time student and work and save as much as I can so its hard to have down time on my only ride. Any ideas about how I should go about getting thing back in order, which should be tackled first, and so on??

My advice would be start by fixing the mechanical problems, such as the rear end, tranny, oil leaks, etc... before they get out of hand, especially if its your daily driver. Since it seems none of us yotatechers are wiping our asses with dollar bills, I would hold off on any other less urgent issues untill more funds are available. I know its a PITA to deal with leaks inside the cab and such, but think about whats more important. I would start by spending an afternoon finding out where the rear end and oil leaks are, and determine how big of a fix it will be. I'd look at the transmission next, and then go from there. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
