Shackles

ok i recently bought a 85 toyota and it came with some pretty long shackles but they arent installed. i was thinking about installing them but wanted to hear some input on if they are even decent for getting a little bit of lift/sag out of my truck

I belive they add like 1 , 1 1/2 lift not much, also if you search ive heard that your handleing might suffer, so yah just my 2 cents.

i know they wont add much but these shackles are pretty dang long lol, and i aint worried about handling to much

My shackles are 5'' center hole to center hole and could go 1'' longer. i wouldnt go much bigger than that.

How long are they?

Like 6 inches or something?

the whole thing from end to end is 10" but it has 3 holes at the bottom of it and from the top hole to the first one is like 5.5 the next is 7 and the last is 8.5

that is huge just put them on in the first hole and see how it sits and rides. watch your shackle angle if its too vertical it wont ride well.

Yeah just put 'em on and see what you think. Just take it easy at first to see if you notice much difference in handling. Shackles aren't hard to put on or take off, so you can always take them back off if you don't like it.

thats what i was thinking just put them on and see and if i dont like it take em off, cause it aint hard, but i want to keep them angled like this --->/ right


and illl get some before and after too, also what about putting them on the front

ok i got the shackles on, i was wondering how do you shackle the front, do you mount them in the front of the springs or the rear of the springs

I'm looking for some rear leaf springs for my pickup. wanting to put some bigger ones underneath. any one have any ideas?

they give like 3-4 i have heard, and they should be stronger they are off a bigger truck, but idk how much, and they are alot longer so you have to move your hangers

got any pics of the whole truck with the shackles?
speedracer356: the chevies will give you quite a bit of lift about 4 or 5 inches, usually but it really depends on your shackle setup.
what are you planning on using the truck for?
the good thing about the chevy spring swap is you can put your rear springs in the front and get about 4" or 5" of lift up there.. its a bang for yer buck thing

i use my truck as a daily driver and weekend trail rig. i have an IFS setup on the truck.

my suggestion would be the chevies in the rear with a single shackle setup.
how are you planning on lifting the front?

wow, yea i would probably just buy a ifs lift kit, or maybe get longer springs in the front, idk how to cheaply lift an ifs vehicle
