22r (carbureted) or 22re (fuel injected)?
The "ECU" for the 22R doesn't really do much - just the electric choke IIRC. In either case, the ignition is controlled by the distributor, not the ECU. My guess is that you actually mean 22RE and the ECU reset to original specs, and needs some time to "learn" your truck again and adjust the fuel mapping.

I believe you just need to unhook the wire.
Does it run OK once it warms up?

once its warmed up the idle shakes the whole car vigorously.
