That's plenty strong, probably 2x as much as your vehicle weighs, or more. I use straps rated for 5000lbs. and haven't broke one yet. My truck, with me in it, fully gassed up and loaded for bear, weighs around 4000lbs. D-shackles are handy.

i snapped a 20k lb tow strap when pulling my friends mountaineer out. i went over a bump and when he hit it it just snapped so i want to upgrade to the rubber band type. thats probobly your best bet wormhole. theyre strong but wont snap when jerked. too bad i dont know what brand or from where to buy one... any ideas?

i carry 2 a 2" x 20' 20,000 lbs and a 3"x30' 30,000 lbs (and an industrial grade 30' chain) . i have found that you can have a strap too long as well as to short. do not get the kind with metal hooks, they are for flat towing on the street, nothing else. If you only by one, buy a good one, its worth saving for an extra week or 2.
good luck and this is an extremely important purchase, choose wisely. the wrong strap could leave you stranded or dead..

it would most likely work but its most recommended to use one rated at or above 20,000 pounds. i'd go 2" at the skinniest, 3" would be better but unless the loops are folded, you can't stick a 3" in your hitch receiver

also, make sure its a RECOVERY strap, not a tow strap. recovery straps are designed to stretch, tow straps arent.

I had a set that I ripped the hook off of one end a couple weeks back that i got at autozone for $20 bucks and I think they were less rated than the one you've been looking at! I've pulled out 5 people this past winter so that might be the cause but that's plenty strong. good luck, it's a good investment!

Yeah, I've seen straps snap like that with a shock load. I've been real carefull to apply steady pressure to avoid breakage. Only thing I haven't seen break is a chain. There too heavy to ride with me, but I got lots of em.

Thanks for the replies guys. Ya, I know all to well not to get the ones with hooks. Too many experiences with those while down on a navajo indain reservation for 11 months.
Anyhow, a member over at ttora referred me to this http://www.ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61339 I think I'm going to go with the 3" (in between the other two) and the reciever shackle. I was hoping to get one today because I'm going to scout out an area tommorrow for a yotatech/ttora/pirate4x4/customtaco (who ever comes from those) run on the 24th of the this month. If I order one know I should have it by then.

I got a KEEPER 6"x30' strap and it's friken awesome! It has done more than I ever thought it would! Of course its a bulldoser strap. If its good enough for them it has to be great for me. It ran me 130.00 but of all the 20/30 dollar ones i've bought I could have got this one 2 or3 times over. I also have some 10 ton Clevises/ Shackles off of a hummer from the Marine's. leathal combo!

Yeah My ARB has so been worth the $125 I paid. Because it will tell you (by changing colors) when it has been abused and is about to fail.

Thanks wheelers off-raod
UPS came today and bought me a gift.
![]() $77 including shipping. The 3" strap might be much for the amount of use it will get but better safe than sorry.
