oil pressure

I have an 88 4runner that i just rebuilt and now i have no oil pressure and i replaced the oil pump. Any ideas?

are you going by the factory gauge in the dash? these are prone to failure. get a mechanical gauge and test that way. mine read below "low" on the factory gauge and is in reality perfectly fine.
Also possible the oil pickup is clogged....

thanks, i have both kinds of gauges on it and neither were registering any kind of pressure and when i was investigating i took the oil filter off and no oil had been circulated thru it??? and when i put the motor back together the pick up was totally cleaned in the parts washer that is why i feel real confussed

Yea i was just about to ask that. Always primp the oil pump if its new. IS THERE OIL IN IT! Leaking oil? Where did you buy the pump and what kind.... Got the correct filter? You rebuilt the motor did you pump the strainer back in? It clogged? Oil goes from pan, pump, filter, and then bearings and gallerys..... so yea...

Pour oil into the pump and move it around alil to get it lubbed and ready for 1000000000's of miles.

Should i do this through the relief valve on the housing or should i pull the pump off and lube it before i re install it?

how would you prime the pump? the relief valve on the housing or take the pump off and lube it before reinstalling.

Haha that's no hood scoop, thats an extremely dirty bra on the front of the truck! I'd take it off the truck, but it's been on so long the damage is done. (thanks PO)
