Odometer does not work 93 4Runner

The odometer and trip meter do not work on my 4Runner. Any ideas to why this would be happening? Everything else on the instrument panel works fine.

Thanks in advance

IIRC the speedo is cable driven. I'd crawl underneath the truck, and unhook the speedo cable from the transfer case. Check and make sure the gear it hooks to is still in one piece. If so, get a drill, chuck up the end of the cable, and spin the cable while watching to see if the speedo moves. If the speedo doesnt move, or the cable doesnt spin for whatever reason, i"d pull the instrument cluster out, unhook the speedo cable and spin one end with the drill while watching the other end (should tell ya if the cable is good.) if that all checks good, its the speedometer and you'll need a new one.

Now I know at one point they switched to a electronic speedo (no cable) but I dont think that was til 94. If its the electronic one, or you need more help, post up.
