MAF Part Number differences?
Can anyone tell me what the difference is in the Mass Air Flow Sensor part numbers?
My screwed up one is a #22250-35060 \ 197100-2470 on a '89 4Runner 22re 5spd.
The #22250-35050 \ 197100-4051 states its for '89 to '95 22re and the cover looks the same.
On a #22250-35020 \ 197100-2470 I can see the cover is more square and is supposed to be from a '88 22re.
Do they all send the same signals to the ECU or is there a difference? I know it would be best to get the exact same part # however if I can spend less than half the money to do the same job I would rather go that way!
By the way if it matters as I found out tonight the correct air filter is for a ?88 not an ?89 because the air box is bigger and the FRAM CA6690 didn?t fit! It took the FRAM CA4830.

Reviving an old thread:
I just switched out an AFM -35050 for a -35060 and the truck runs the same. I don't know yet if my CEL codes are fixed, but I will in a day or so. The only difference I could find was an interchangeable bracket that is slightly different. You look for the same resistance test specs on both AFMs so I don't see why there should be any issues with how the ECU interprets the signals.

THE NUMBERS NEED TO MATCH EXACTLY! i work at a toyota dealership and have been told this by all the certified mechanics, plus i went through it myself. I replaced mine with one that had different numbers and it ran like crap. good luck

I'm in dire search of a 22250-35060. The 22250-35050 meters out to have a slight difference in resistance that STILL causes an issue. The only models the 22250-35060 will work for are 1988-89 4Runner 22re and 1988-89 Pickup 22re part years. Every other year / model seems to have the generic AFM. Super discouraged to find that the part I waited for from China spec'd outside the range and best match is like $900 for an exact part in or around the US.
This site has great info on the spec values. Meter Spec sheet
