Just bought a Diesel, Any groups here enthusiastic the 2L-TE Toyota Engine?
So I just bought a 1990 Toyota 4Runner, and I am looking to find a community that knows about them, and can guide me in working on the car.
Right now I know I need to do a timing belt.
And I am looking to get a timer to keep the engine running after I turn the key off. And maybe even remote start, it gets Cold here and I like getting into a warm car.

Not much diesel knowledge on this forum, unfortunately. Most of us are in the US, which only got the 1L and 2L (and a rare few 2LT) until 1986. They are not common. Even less common are 4wd trucks with the diesel. Your 2LTE with redesigned head was never sold here.
You'll have better luck at toyotadiesel.com, although I've tried to register there at least twice and failed; you need to email the moderator, who never got back to me. Also 4btswaps, or a UK, South African, or Australian Toyota forum.
I have a 2L2/3L FSM supplement in PDF format. PM me with your email and I'll send you a copy.

The 2LT-E engine is quiet common here in Australia, but unfortunately are notorious for cracked heads. Brand new heads are available via China, and if you do start having had trouble with the head, don't waste your money trying to repair the head you have, bin it and buy new. The 2LT-E also runs electronic fuel pump rather than mechanical. They are also prone to problems, such as the resistors failing and seals leaking. A brand new fuel pumps are also manufactured via china for around the $1200US mark.
