ifs locker or sas
Just picked up an 87 4runner to replace my jeep since I'm a toyota person not a jeep person. it's got shackles in rear and 31x13.50 swampers in good shape. It's kinda beat but with fuel injected 22re and a 5 speed figured a grand couldn't go wrong. I'm honestly just wanting a small rig for beating on with 2 kids. I already have a brand new locker for the rear from my last toyota that I'm planning on sticking in. Was wondering if it is worth the time/money putting in a front locker or do a sas. I don't have tons of time or money right now. I do have two spare ifs front ends and two straight axles with suspension on broke down trucks. I already have a monster chevy rig for super hard stuff. 95% of stuff around here is mild wheeling and that's what the plan for this is. Does this ifs hold up to lockers?

I've never used limited slip. I was just emailing a guy who had a used spartan I may be getting for 100 bucks in good apparent shape still. Figured for that price might as well try it. Especially since I got two spare front diffs and four axle shafts and only 31s.

If you plan on going larger than a 33" tire, do the solid axle.
But if you have time and spare parts, lock it up and go! Just be ready to change CV shafts...
A buddy is running a welded front and rear 86 truck on 31s with pretty good luck. He leaves one hub unlocked when cursing (kind of like 3 wheel drive) then locks the hub when he needs it.
