Have had this problem for years now, my heater does not work, the water hoses that go through the firewall are hot, so, my question is, do I need to change the heater core, and if so,,how difficult is it to change?

I hear its very difficult to get to those, you have to take the whole dash out. Have you tried flushing it out with a hose?

Yes, I have flushed it out several times, If I turn the fan on for the heater, its not hot at all....

Did the water go through it ok when you were flushing it? If its not leaking and not plugged up I'd really think twice about going to all the trouble of replacing it.

I guess its possible the air flow from the fan can't get through it (like really dirty on the outside). I once had a problem with no heat with mine right after I drained and refilled the radiator. I think the problem was a trapped air bubble in the heater hoses somewhere in my case because after I drained the system again and refilled it the problem disappeared.

Thanks for the info, I will flush the core again, maybe there is something stuck in there....it doesnt hurt to try.....again, thanks...

I've heard it helps to flush it in both directions.
