Front cv going out
Sorry but my brain is not working at 100% right now...my friend is driving a full size dodge, and he says that on a gravel road the front cv boot tore, and it's now full of gravel, making bad noises, until he gets up to about 50mph, then it goes away.
Obviously this is very bad, but I'm trying to think...since it's not on the drive wheels, what happens when the cv goes out? Dangerous? It has auto hubs, so he can't disengaget hub, unfortanetaly. But I mean if it was manual hubs, he could disengage and it would be fine if it went out, just no 4wd, right? But is it dangerous since he can't disengage them?

yeah not good, it could lock up or break something and could cause an accident. if he can take off the hub part that locks it like the toyota has the plate to where it doesnt turn the shaft then he will be ok tell he can get it fixed.
