Dexron III vs IV
I had the dealership do a tranny flush last year. I noticed the invoice says Dex IV, I called and asked if I needed it topped off if I could throw in Dex III, since I have never seen Dex IV for sale around here. They said the two were compatible.
Does this sound ok or should I see if I can buy a quart or two of Dex IV from them?

Kinda threw me off with Dexron IV, I thought for a second that it was a typo.
I don't recall ever seeing Dexron IV. But I'm fairly sure all Dexron atf is back-compatible.
This link says theirs is.

What brand is it?

I'm not sure what brand they used. I have never heard of IV either, that's what confused me.
The guy at the parts counter had never heard of it either, so he asked one of the techs. The tech said mixing the DIII with the IV would be fine as long as I don't use anything lower than what the tranny was designed for (DII).
Just wanted opinions on the back-compatibility of ATF.
