Couple Newbie Q's....

Alright so I finally started making bigger changes to my truck. I recently put some 33x12.5x15 Toyo MTs on with stock gearing and NO lift. It rubs at full turn on the pitman arm. It is a turd with 33s and stock gearing!
Alright So for the questions:

1. Would some wheel spacers fix the pitman arm rub?

2. Where should i go to regear and about how much will it cost me for install/parts?

3. Where online do I look for gear/install kits and what r/p do i get?Like 8'' 4 cyl? I have no clue what to look for.

4. With a 3'' lift will i need to extend my drivelines?I will extend my brake lines for sure. Also will I need to changed my steering stabilizer or anything up front?

Thanks In Advanced

NOTE: this appears to be an 84 or 85 SFA truck, not 86+ IFS...

Perhaps, but it's going to DRAMATICALLY increase fender rub issues. I'm not quite sure how you're hitting the pitman arm though - pix?

Generally, the rule of thumb is $200/axle for install if you take them your thirdmembers. LOTS more if you just drop off the truck. I would ask around for recommendations near where you live. You could ship them to Zuk also: www.gearinstalls.com

Yes - Toyota 8". So many Toyotas use these that if you call someone and they don't immediately know what you're talking about, move on to somewhere else. www.performanceoffroadcenter.com and East Coast Gear Supply have always gotten good reviews. Now would be the time to do lockers too if those tires are for actual dirt and not just looking pretty at the mall. If you're intersted in that method, just buy built thirdmembers with your gearing and locker choice - the price is the same or cheaper than buying the parts and having a pro install done. Check out www.marlincrawler.com, www.trail-gear.com and Randy's Ring & Pinion for thirdmembers.

Driveshafts should be fine, as will the steering, although now would be the time to look at converting to high-steer.

Hey thanks for the quick response.

I was looking at the complete 3rds and this may sound stupid but for instance on marlin crawler, they have a complete 3rd with lock right locker for $800. Is this just for the rear or is that for front and rear?

Just one - it will work in either the front or rear on your truck

Wow, you look high for having no lift. I guess it's those sweet tires. W/ the 4 cyl, I would go 5.29s, but it depends on how much freeway driving you do. Your rpms will be higher.

I think $800 is pretty good if the Marlin comes set up w/ the gear ratio of your choice.

I can't really afford 2 3rd members so if I just bought a rear third with 4.88 and a locker would I be ok if I just regeared the front?so locker in the rear and open in the front but same gear ratios?and I do a bit of high speed driving so I settled on 4.88s

You'll be fine, you just can't use 4x4 until you re-gear the front or you'll blow up your t-case.

That will certainly work! Just one locker will make a huge difference!

Thanks for all the replies!
So if i buy the 3rd member from marlin its pretty much a BOLT on install?
And also for regearing the front: I cannot find anybody local that installs them!I need some help. And if i send it to zuk at gear installs how much would that cost me?
Thanks Again!

Yes, replacing a third member is pretty much bolt on. You'll likely need to bleed and adjust the brakes, but otherwise "installation is the reverse of disassembly"
