Child Safety Locks?

Are 92 era 4Runners equipped with Child Safety door locks? Both rear doors can not be opened from the inside but can from the outside, what gives? If it was just one then I would take the door panel off and check it out, but with both of them, leads me towards the possibility of a child safety system.

If there is, where is it, because I keep forgetting to tell my friends that the back doors don't unlock, and I walk away with them stuck in the truck.
