yes, I just did my 1991 4R with ADD. swap straight across, I posted a couple vids in response to an old post with rebuild issues. Between the two they pretty much cover everything for the 2nd Gen 4R swap/repack.

Newbie intro.
Mornin' All
Krate here in Eastern Wva. just been lurkin' for a few weeks.
Bought My first 4runner 3.0 auto ADD about a month ago just in time for the Last Snowstorm of year I hope.
I have a few questions concerning My ADD It will not unlock? to 2WD Left front tire off ground
try to spin wheel diff. no free wheeling. IT was in Park will this make difference. I chose leftside cause
I thought this side would freewheel... I'm I correct?? Do I need to take anything apart Or Do I just install lock-out hubs??
Oh. Which Brand / type of hubs would Y'all recommend

May be a stupid question
I've been rebuilding the entire steering and suspension systems on a 91 pickup that I purchased from a guy who did not treat it well. While rebuilding the hubs, I noticed that one of them had a hub ring that has the wrong internal diameter. It allows for no less than 1/8 of an inch of play between the inside of the ring and the inner hub... this is just... wrong.
I think the guy might have rebuilt it before with parts that he had laying around and did not care if it was correct, though I have a hard time seeing how he even assembled it.
I want to get the appropriate part, ideally without picking up an entirely new hub... I just need a new ring and spacers, and wouldn't mind refreshing the snap rings and seals while I'm at it. Do you guys have any idea where I can find internal parts for these things? I know one option is the junkyard, but other than that and calling up Aisin, I can't seem to find any info online.

Alright guys bringing this thread back. I have a pretty loud sound coming out of my front driver side wheel assembly and after a lot time and effort changing pretty much all the component I tho could
be wrong (spindle bushing, CV, Wheel bearing,etc..) I'm thinking of swapping for manual hub see if that works.
True or False.
If all my 4wd component works I should be able to just swap my ADD hub with manual hub and that will prevent the CV from turning in 2wd with the hub unlock. And then you just lock them in and you have them turning in 4wd. I'm I right ?

This seems to be the catch all thread for the Aisin's and I haven't seen this addressed- The aluminum hub body itself, is it clear coated? It's held up very well, I'm sure it's forged, but Id like to try to polish out some brake dust pitting while the outer ring and dials are at the powdercoater. Anyone know if they're clear coated? Given the hammer marks from tapping them off I don't believe they are coated..
Also, fyi, i've been able to get replacement internal parts from my dealer.

thank you for the info I’m currently running 2003 oem 4Runner wheels and looked up the bore size for those wheels and to my luck they are 106.1 bore size so it looks like the the wheels I’m after will work with the 106.1 bore size , if you notice the link says approx. 108mm which is obviously wrong as it’s actually 106mm for the front hubs

OK, thanks for the information, will add that to the web page, I just estimated that number based on a rough inch measurement. I've never had a chance to measure the later model wheels, which are hub-centric and thus have the smaller center bore to tightly fit over the hubs. The earlier trucks were set up for lug-centric wheels with and oversized center bore.
