Another Rotor Thread ....

Alright, NEWBIE HERE, Without checking every thread I am SURE that there has to be something on here about removing the front rotors from a 88 4x4. I was wondering if anyone has an idea where I can find (besides the books that Auto Zone sells) that can explain to me step by step how to get these things off. A video perhaps?

I have done my own brake jobs and rotor replacements forever and have NEVER seen a more pain in the bung then this.

This truck is one that was given to my 15 year old and we're tryin to get it ready for the road (or off road).

Thank You in advance for your assistance !!!

Chris & Chad

I dont have a link but.

You have to remove the hub off the spindle, and the bolts for the rotor are on the back side.

Yea I'm onto that and would love to get to that point BUT I can not get the hub off. Figuring out those cone washers and on the inside the directions speak of a SNAP RING and there doesnt seem to be any snap ring there.

Pullin what lil hair I have out ..... give me back my 70 Chev ...I used to take the rotors off everytime I washed the truck to shine em up. hahahahaha An illness I had

when i tried to do mine, i got the cone washers off, but couldn't find that snap ring and was in the garage all day, and still couldnt get the hub off. I've still got all the new brake parts sitting on a bench in the garage.

Some, yes. Watch out for if they are made in China. After looking at Toyota OEM, Ebay, and Napa/ Kragen, I am going to get my rotors at Kragen Auto. They are $31.99 and if they warp, they are replaceable.

I have read reviews, and they haven't gotten anything too "harsh" as far as quality goes. I agree you do get what you pay for mostly when it comes to brakes...

Well if it's the same as mine, there is a bolt & washer, C-clip, axle nut, retainer washer, another axle nut & the hub/rotor combo comes off. Maybe you can't see because of grease? Have you wiped it all down & looked with a good light source (day light)
