95 4runner 3.0 engine swap question...
I have a 95 with a 3.0 and manual tranny ... The engine is about to blow... I found another 95 with the same engine in good condition but it has an automatic tranny... Can I swap the engines out? Anything not compatible that I should be aware of?
Thanks!
Thanks!

3.0 swap
Aside from swapping the flex plate for a flywheel and clutch, you will need to put a pilot bearing in the end of the crank for the input shaft, the auto engine won't have one.
If the engines are both 95's everything on the engine will be the same.
The autos have a different ECU with different plugs on the wireing harness, so make sure you use everthing from the manual one.
The oil pressure sensers are different from guages to idiot lights so use the ones from your truck if unsure what the auto had for gauges.
FYI, The earlier 3.0's are different from the newer ones, the TPS is positioned differently, the timing belts have different style tensioners, the rad water flows through the block differently, along with some other differences, timing belt cover, spark leads, knock senser, these older motors can be interchanged but require converstions.
As a side note make sure the pins that locate the belhousing are in place, when you seperate the block from the transmission sometimes the pins remain in the block other times the stay in the transmission, make sure they are in place when mateing the new motor to your transmission or a bent input shaft can result.
