94$Runner tranny and clutch questions
You guys are amazing...finally found some good info!
I have done much of what you guys have said already. I think I ready to drop the tranny with a couple exceptions:
Speedo cable on 3VZ: The Alldata diagram shows it just ahead of the shifter at the top right side....is it the same for 4WD?
Do we have to remove the exhaust pipe...looks like removing the clamp and bracket will do the trick?
I have help (it's my son's truck and he is a poor college student) and a good jack...will a tranny jack make the difference?
Thanks in advance for the help!

It sounds as though you are headed in the right direction.
Just disconnect the speedo cable from the transfer case, and you should be good. Don't forget your wiring plugs for the reverse lights, and 4WD light - there is a hold down for the wires on top of the tranny, just ahead of the shift levers. You should be able to get to it after you remove the shift levers and boots.
As long as you have a floor jack, that should be enough. As a precaution, you might want to wrap a nylon racheting strap around the top of the tranny and the top of the arm of the jack, to help steady it as you pull it off of the engine, and lower it

breknraj, thanks for the advice!
I have already got the wiring harness disconnected from the 4WD indicator and reverse lights...the clips on the top were a pain. I will get a ratcheting strap so the tranny doesn't tip.
