Hey I bought a 4 runner a couple days ago v6 automatic 4x4 guy said it needed the shift linkage fixed. I get it home and shift linkage is fine but it won't drive in 2hi or 4hi. I got it to lock in to 4hi one time and drove it. It shifted all the way threw third but not fourth. Also does this in 4lo. I'm just wondering is it a gear in the transfer case or should I get everything rebuilt. Thanks for the help

Did you get any history on this 4Runner like it has been sitting the last 5 years??

Just what happens when trying to drive in 2 wd?? or 4 high. It comes down to just what happens??

How did you get it home??

What does the fluid look and smell like??

Sticking calipers or emergency brake seized ??

I have a 93 4 runner auto with v6 and it does the same thing it will drive in 4lo every time but sometimes it will drive in 2hi. I let it run for about half an hour and it shifted into 2hi. I talked to a Transmision shop about it and they said it was the transfer case. So I got that and now I can't figure out how to get the transfer case off of the back of the transmission.
Help would be much appreciated!
