89 to 85 engine swap?

Hi everybody,
I currently have a 1989 Toyota pickup 4x4 with a 22re fuel injected engine. I love my truck and it runs great, but I really want a solid axle in the front. I also would like to keep my current efi engine. Since 85 was the last year the solid axle models were produced, i was thinking of buying one and putting my engine/trans/transfer case from my 89 into it.
I was just wondering if anyone has done anything like this before or if it would even work? Any feedback is great, thanks.

my 85 has an efi engine in it, but they only put the efi in the 85's the second half of the year thats why there is some 1985 22r's and some 22RE's but they are out there
