4 Wheel drive won't disengage

I've got a '92 Runner, I've already rebuilt the engine and the tranny. Now the 4 wheel drive won't disengage. Then, my wife drove it on the freeway and said that it was slamming. I've bout had it with this lemon of a yota. As far as I know I'm the second owner and it only has 176k on it. Should I just cut my losses or dump another chunk o' change in to it?
At this point I'd take $2000 for it

Your 4Runner uses vacuum to engage and disengage 4 wheel drive. On the passenger side fender, there are two VSV (vacuum switching valves) that are responsible for sliding a sleeve in and out of place to engage or disengage your front axle.

When you did the rebuild, you may have swapped over the vacuum lines by mistake. Read that link and you should be able to troubleshoot it pretty easily.
