Many purchase the necessary harnesses, etc. from Off Road solutions. They have a pretty good write up of the procedure. http://www.offroadsolutions.com/tech...fe-conversion/ If that looks easy enough for you, do search around here for specific information on the swap.

It can be done. Easiest thing is to convert the 98 harness from auto to manual (you'll need the EWDs to know where to move the pins, plus you'll probably need new connector bodies), then buy a 98 M/T ECU. From there, a lot can simply be done by moving parts around, the trick is finding out what parts need to be moved and where they go. There is a bit of fab work to be done (making a new battery box and exhaust come to mind).

Then the real challenge is wiring everything together; the 3.0 and 3.4 use 95% completely different electronics, and you'll need to find a way to integrate the newer electronics (sensors and valves) to your older truck. Again, it can and has been done, you just need to do some research and find what needs to be done.

The 3.4 Swap sub-forum will become your new best friend: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f160/ . Read through as many swap threads and stickies as you can; all the information you'll need is in there, although it is scattered around.
