3.0vze won't start after jump

Hello all!

So my friend used my truck (1988 toyota with 3vze) to jump start a car. He hooked up the positive and negative correctly on the car (dead battery) but put the positive on the negative side of my battery and the negative to a ground (fender wall under hood). He saw his mistake after they attemtped a crank at it and corrected it to jump their battery. They started the dead battery in the car and we drove off. I went to start my truck later and it doesn't start. It cranks, has battery, and I can smell gas.

Note: The stereo in acc mode works fine when at start position it flickers...any suggestions what could be the problem?

I've checked the coil and it sparks? Any suggestions on where to go from here?

Take a look at your alternator too just in case.

Buddy and me accidentally had the clamps switched on our Hondas, had to replace my alternator 3 days later. Still not sure if its fully cause the screw-up but you might want to check yours

Thanks for the pointers, I'm going to check the ground and fuses and check the Alternator. I've checked the fuses under the hood behind the battery and they seem to be ok same as those on the driverside under dash seem to be fine. Any other places fuses can be?

Had a friend hook up the jumpers wrong on a Camry (Camry's battery was dead) and it fried the Camry's computer. She had to get a new ECM.

not sure if this is your case, but keep it in mind if all else fails

Its probably a fuse. A damaged alternator will not prevent it to start. I you check for spark and is ok, then check or injector pulse...

You're right, but if the wiring got cooked, that could cause a no start issue.
