Then today it started actually spittin and sputterin, i held the bitch to the floor and it sputtered till it got to like 2500rpm then threw you in the seat??? Anyone have any idea, i know, or at least i think i do that its fuel related, maybe clogged fuel filter? I need help ASAP please...

Defiantly do a fuel filter first its cheap and fairly easy. Not as easy as on the third gens with the wheel well hole cut out but not hard. Then go from there. Any exhaust leak sounds coming from the engine compartment. Have your checked your distributor for water? If it sounds like your exhaust is leaking the your can spray some carb cleaner on parts under the hood and listen for the engine to race. Also are your vacuum line all hooked up good none have gotten brittle and broken off? Just listing off gremlins that I have had to track in the past.
Good luck and keep us posted

well i did a fuel filter, ran great for a few days, now its right back to where i started....i took some starting fluid to all the vac lines before i did the fuel filter and after and they were fine. And yes it does sound like there may be a little exhaust leak, no i havent checked the distributor, but my buddy said he thought it might be the TPS, could that be so???

Have you ran a can of Seafoam through it yet? Might help clear lines and injectors. I would hate for you to have to chae a problem from tank to engine. Seafoam is the medical Toyota drug

I put 1/3 in the gas tank 1/3 through the brake booster and I believe 1/3 in the oil. But double check. Just search Seafoam on here you'll get more info than you want
Good luck

I googled the FSM for my truck and found an active link.
This is for a 93 but here's the link
http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-buchanan/93fsm/
You could see if this works for you

Edit. If you noticed an improvement with a fuel filter and then it started doing it again I think it sounds like it could be sediment buildup in the tank. Seafoam might do it but have another fuel filter on hand for after you do I just incase you knock a large chunk of sediment loose. Also if you have the ability drive it aggressively after you foam it that seems to help keep stuff moving through the lines. You might also have to drop the tank if Seafoam doesn't solve it and it gets better again then acts up. I had this problem on my old suburban and it was a clogged intank screen in the tank.

If the tank is empty or close to it it's not that hard. I know it's easy to ask questions but try going to google and searching for it or just search for your trucks specific factory service manual. You will probably get your answers faster

Have you checked over your spark plugs and wires recently? They could also be causing your hesitation.

Your problem is turning in to one to ask questions. But the first several we're very easily found by a quick search. There is a lot of knowledge on here and knowing where to find it is how you can find it and help people in the future. I am not trying to bag on you just trying to save you some headache. I watch the newbie forum to try and help people as I was new to this site not to long ago. Most of the people on here will help but they want you to do your due diligence first. Once you get her running good then expand in to the 2nd gen area and you will discover where this site excels. Lots of info on mods and what works and what doesn't work. At least that's what I have found most useful about this site. How not to waste you money building you rig. FYI 85 excab is my unicorn. Had one and I got stolen so I rock my 3rd gen till I find my unicorn. You have a gem for a truck. Enjoy it. I'm jealous of it.

What brand plugs and wires and cap are you running? Some Toyotas are picky for some reason.

sounds like fuel filter is clogged again. you can try running gas from a different source (gas can) maybe. if that solves your problem then you know its sediment in your tank. or just drop your tank and clean it out anyway. with that age, it would probably be a good idea.

fishguy, i have been on truck forums for years, and i know how they work, and i know everyone wants you to search stuff, and i did thats why i posted on here because i didnt find anything i was looking for. Thanks for the complements on the truck. And idk about the plugs and wires, they are whatever was on it when i got it a few months ago. Gonna change all of it out when i get this fuel issue fixed. Maachine, i had thought about that also, inside the gas door it is full of mud from the previous owner, so it has me thinkin there is tons of crap in the tank, my thoughts were to remove the tank, clean it, coat it, new fuel pump, and another fuel filter.
