22re running rich! Any advice on what to do?

I have a new 22re with like 700 mile on it. I have been having some pinping problems and it seems to be running rich. Any advie on what I should so? Timing is set at 5*. Please help! Thanks

Assuming "pinping" is pinging (knocking), then that is usually from running too lean or from timing advanced too far. Since you say you have timing at 5 (BTDC - with the timing jumper installed I am assuming), then you might want to test your O2 sensor. Also, see if there are any store trouble codes, could also be the knock sensor.

It seems to take a lot for the O2 sensor to throw the CEL.

x2 for testing the O2 sensor

FSM for a '93 truck (yours should be identical) here:
