Ticking noise from v8 engine?

I have a 03 4runner limited with v8. It has a semi-loud ticking when it sits. Gets quiet after a minute. I was told it had hydralic lifters and not adjustable. Also told, noise is normal for toyota with 77k miles. I'm going to change oil to 5w30 synthetic with lucus synthetic oil. I thuoght the v8 was an over head cam engine. Are the Rockers adjustable? Hoping problem is not pistons or berrings. Any help would be great!

Yeah I would check oil levels. Make sure you aren't leaking any. If it is high pitch I would say lifters. If it was deep and constant then rod knock. Let us know after you do the oil change.

Good news! Changed engine oil to synthetic and added the lucas sythetic thick oil. It helped a lot. I don't hear the noise when I startthe engine.
