Looking at getting new 2008 taco.
Hey everyone, I've been slowly starting to look for a new vehicle and I've landed on a new Tacoma, I plan to grab one straight from the dealership.
I'm planning on an access cab, 6speed manual, with the 4.0L V6. I know color isn't the biggest deal but I'm thinking of going with the Indigo ink. My questions lie withen the factory options, checking out the offroad towing package (canada) option D or E in the USA, is it worth it to go this route? We have a couple quads, dirtbikes, and tons of other stuff that I would love to be able to throw behind and not have to worry about. I also know that I want a rear diff lock. Is it worth it to go all the way and grab the offroad towing package? Most of the accesories don't do much for me, but I am looking into the TRD catback exhaust, for people who went with this option, did it offer any power gains? Also wondering if it gave the truck a nice, smooth, deeper sound. Thanks for all your help, also, if this has been roughly covered, it would be great if you could point me in the direction of some past threads.

Well....
You are familiar with the features included in the offroad towing package. So, that one is your call. If the extra cost doesn't bother you, and you think you will use the options, go for it. I like your configuration (V6 6spd AccCab). Very nice. I will say to you one thing: Indigo Ink is VERY hard to keep scratches off of. Albeit, a very nice color on these trucks. As for the TuRD exhaust... pass on that. WAY too expensive for what minimal gains you might see. If you want sound, put a muffler on it. Yeah yeah it voids the warranty for the entire exhaust system, but again, thats up to you to decide if its worth it. Just my .02 but either way, post pictures when you get it. Good luck..

Thanks for the help. I see what you're saying with the exhaust, defenetly not worth it.
I went to the dealership today here in Victoria (school) and priced it out to around 34,000. Ouch. They did have exactly what I'm looking for, it's white though, which isn't really a big deal. Parents are pricing them out back home and we're constantly looking at dealerships that are south of the boarder. Who knows, maybe this will happen sooner then I thought.

Cool...
I tend to be critical of new Toyota's seeing as I work there and am in and out of these vehicles constantly. However, with the exception of a few minor things, the biggest of which being a cramped driver's seat with limited legroom I really have no major complaints with the Tacoma. Keep in mind that I am 6'3" and 225lbs, so mine and your versions of "cramped" might be different. But, you're right, Tacoma's definately aren't cheap. Expect to pony up at least 30,000 bones for one. But, with gas prices being up and Tacoma sales being down, you might get a suprise.

That's is the first I have heard anyone complain about cramped seating, must be a regular cab/access cab thing. I am bigger than you both in height and weight and my 05 d-cab is the only vehicle that I have ever driven that I couldn't drive with the seat slid all the way back. It shocked me when I first got in it, i did my typical slide the driver's seat all the way back as soon as I hopped in and quickly found myself sliding it back forward to reach the pedals comfortably. |

not distance from the pedals. My knee tends to become wedged in between the door and the steering wheel.

I don't think I'll have a problem with the cramped area. I'm 6'0, but like to keep everything a bit forward.
Gas hit 1.52 a litre here this past week, it's terrible. It's going to be another month at the earlyist before I can get my hands on a new taco. Thanks for the help guys, and if anyone has some input it would be greatly apriciated.
