led knight rider light

hey guys, since i cant go on t4r.org since its down, im asking all your guys opinions, i just bought a led knight rider scanner light, it has a wireless remoe and it was cheap, so now come to mounting, i have 2 location o mout this thing, i have opened the hood scoope on my 07 4runner sport, and it seems to be a nice place to put, another place is the bumber right under neath the grill, well if u open the hood up, i can mount it on the cumper and it will show just under but behind the grill at the bottom, also this look will be stealth, i just want to know where should i mount this thing? behind the grill in the scoope or on the bumper behind the grill?

Hood scoop would be interesting but can the light handle the heat off the engine and would the hood reflections prove distracting?
stealth grill location might be best... remember though there are restrictions in most jurisdictions on showing a red "flashing" light forward, if a cop pulls you over you could receive a ticket.
BTW be prepared to take a lot of heat for this very ricey mod

As long a the light is not on while you're moving you should be fine, in most states.
I know at the department I work for, if you have a flashing/strobing blue light on your vehicle while you're moving you are definitely getting pulled over.
Probably won't get a ticket from most but you will have to take it off or next time you'll be having a date with a judge.

Sounds like it will only be on when the vehicle is parked and the alarm is on so you should be fine.
If for some reason you really wanted it to be on while you were driving you might try and find a white LED version - not many states have laws against those.

Just saw the link if you got that 53cm wide one then I think it is probably too wide for the hood scoop if memory serves it is narrower then that.
That yota in the pic does'nt look that bad, but the install could have been much better. If you go for a grill mount I'd mount the thing behind the grill from the back side so it looks more professional. As Fink noted if you are only using it while parked about the only thing you need worry about is vandals lol.

when i close the hood, the buttom of the grill where it meets the bumper, have enought space for it, it was perfect , so im thinking of leaving it there, u can barley tell its there, also when i mounted on the hood scoop, it was a little to loong, like im missin 3 leds from each side but it still works too, well ill mount this under the grill behind it but at the bumper lip, it fits perfectly, also in that ebay pic of the toyota, its a china version of the us camry.

those zip ties in the ebay pic make for one clean installation

just like my old one:

actually I kind of think they would make some cool turn signals & the price is not too bad.
