4th gen manual transmission

im looking into getting a new 4runner in a few months, and for the most part, i have it pinned down that i want a 01-02 sr5 sport with the 3.4 v6 and 5 speed. however, in my search, ive found several 4th gen 4runners in my price range, and i like the look of them, as well as the 4.0 v6. an automatic transmission is a dealbreaker though, so does anyone know if the 4th gen was available with a stick? i assume the tacoma (and maybe even tundra) can get the 4.0 with a stick, so can the 4runner? and if so, does anybody have any suggestions as to which way i should go? any help would be appreciated. thanks!

4th Gens only came with automatics.

Could have searched to find that out though.

You'll be looking forever if that's what you're searching for.

01-02's are 3rd gens, not 4th.

And the last year for sticks was 2000.

No stick in 4th gens.

You can find a Tacoma with a manual, but they are had to come by, especially with a V6. But if you found a Tacoma with a manual, would you buy it instead of a 4Runner? With the 4 door crew cab, there's plenty of room inside for passengers. And if you want enclosed storage in the bed, there's plenty of nice color matched toppers out there.

I'm just asking, because if you want a manual bad enough, that's the only option.

Not sure on the newer ones, but I don't think there was an option for the manual on the 01-04 double cab Tacomas.

That is true. 01-04 Double cabs DID NOT ever have a manual.
Unless swapped

The 05+ however, have an optional 6 Speed Manual..

Exactly. Since the OP said 01-02, I just mentioned that because of the post.
