WTH? Different tire sized
I googled to learn more about tire sized and I'm still stumped.
I pulled this off my current tired: 30 x 9.50 R15LT
I understand what numbers are what. BUT, when going to tire websites to compare prices, the sizes are waaaay different. What is this all about? I did a conversion to a metric size, and my metric size is 249/79/15. This still leaves me in the dark. I'm totally lost now. I don't want to walk into the tire shop and not know what I'm doing, but I'm helpless.

the metric tire size goes up in in incremints of 5. If you use a converter to guess what your metric equivalent would be you need to round up. so your 249/79/15 would be 250/80/15. the 250 would be tire width. the 80 would be hieght of tire from rim out and of course the 15 is rim size. hope this helps

250 is indeed the width, but the 80 means its 80% as tall, as the tire is wide.

Well that clears it all up. thanks a lot. Quick response too. I was searching for a tire that wasn't very common, which is why I never saw it in most of the sites I searched.
