I removed the windshield from my 4R as part of my repainting project. Now it's time to put it back in. So I get my razor blade out and try to scrape the old primer and adhesive from the glass so it can be re-glued. Most of it came off, but there is still some left behind that the razor won't remove. Now I got a problem. I can't install the glass until the old primer and adhesive is removed. I tried every solvent I could find in my garage and nothing will touch it. Not mineral spirits, acetone, alcohol, toluene, or xylene.

Arrrgghhh. How do you get the old urethane and primer off the glass?

heat gun or a propane torch just don't get it too hot

Heat gun doesn't do anything. I got the glass too hot to touch and nothing. It appears that the urethane primer is what's refusing to come off.

Try some carb cleaner

try some of the adhesive that you are going to use to hold it in, if it does it break it down then it should seal up and hold. maybe a drill and wire brush, or a grinder.

I got it off... finally. The problem was crappy razor blades from walmart. They were going dull almost instantly. I never did find anything that would dissolve the primer. It's really tough.
