The parts i would need (which you can buy from autozone, then return when done) will cost around $100.

Total I spent on mine is around $300. I probably would not change the tranny input seal, or rear main seal. I'll look at them, so will you, and decide from there if it is worth changing or not.

Could do the work for only paying around $200 parts.

Puttin the tranny back up, is easier then taking it out.

Either way it moves slowly and painfully. My abs and obliques are sore right now, I awakened some dormant muscles !

I went and met him last night and it's the input shaft bearing (90%) or pilot bearing (10%).

Might end up changing both for him this weekend, since i'll be under there.

Authority- do you want me to buy the input shaft bearing if we're going to do it this weekend?

I'd almost say wait off on the parts until we pull the transmission.

Might end up doing all the work I did last weekend.

Napa is open on Saturday's.

Do you have a garage ?

I don’t- I rent from my parents & the garage is always full of stuff. Do you have a place to work on it?

In that case, we can do it at my place, I'll just have to move the stuff out of my garage which I'll do tonight.

Interesting read, but same situation.

Pilot bearing, on his, might be input shaft bearing too.

Wouldn't be output shaft bearing because in neutral the transmission doesn't connect to the output shaft ...

Cool. So we can do it at my garage, I've got a pretty good amount of tools, a shop jack, & my neighbor has a set of ramps if we need them. Bring anything else you think you'll need. What's your schedule like on Fridays? Do you think we could at least have the tranny pulled & the problem diagnosed on Friday? I'm just trying to get this wrapped up soon. I'll be your assistant throughout the project, so it'll be two of us working on it rather than just you alone.

Off work at 5pm.

I'll have to double check with the wife to see IF I CAN do the work this weekend.

Her only days off are friday-sunday and she works this friday (5 - 12 hour shifts this week).

So I dont want to get on the rocks over it. Especially since I ruined her camping trip last weekend with my own clutch going out.

Hopefully your getting to it quick enough there's no other damage.

My truck sat around for prolly 3 years before I got to it. Checked everything and it seemed good. Drove to lake wenatchee last dec for work (needed 4x4... snow over stevens and at the jobsite). Went out the morning after we got there, about 7 degrees outside, and started it up. Was letting it warm up and smoking a cig when I heard a clunk and the truck died. Locked into third gear. Put it in a storage unit till april (every damn time I went to get it, the pass got dumped on). Got it home and it sat for a little. Then my 97 blazer started acting up (fuel pump relay craps out when it gets up to temp. Died on me on one of the 90 degree plus days at 41st on i5 during rush hour. I was in the fast lane. Haha luckily a sheriff gave me a push to the side. At that point I decided I was done with f.I.). Found a g52 tranny and transfer case, as well as a 94 master cylinder for 350.

Swapped it out in a 3 day weekend. Only help I had was taking the tranny down and putting it up. Once you do it and figure out the order to take stuff off, i could see being able to do it in a day with 2 people.

So now I have an extra tranny and transfer case. I wanna rebuild the tranny myself. And perhaps dual transfer cases. This is all money allowing (and I don't find a deal on a 22r and rebuild it). Doing siding in this economy sucks right now. This is week 7 of unemployment.

Not really related to your transmission problems. But getting shown the order to take the tranny down and put it back up, priceless.

I'd offer my garage up, but I'm afraid that'd do more damage to your tranny than good. And my roommate would prolly not be to happy about it. Haha

I gotta wire up a stereo. I can't stand at least not having a radio. P.o. Used house wiring. One of the first things that got taken out. I also wanna bedliner the interior. This tar crap is really killing motivation tho.

516593812 got pics of your truck? I can't find the cord that goes from my phone to pc to upload mine =(
