Will a 2nd gen radio bracket fit in my '88?

My '88 1st gen 4Runner didn't have a radio mounting bracket when I got it, it was just a block of wood screwed to the dash. Will an 89-04 mounting bracket (used on eBay) fit in my 4Runner?

No, it won't fit. I grabbed a pair out of a 93 4Runner at the junkyard for my 87 and they did not fit. You can buy new OEM ones online for $11 and change each. That's what I did.

Know where you got it? I only found some on eBay for ~$25

I bought them from what used to be ToyoMotorParts.com. They changed to a new site a few months ago but if you type that in it will redirect you to where I bought them. ToyotaPartsDeal.com or something similar.

86211-89109 and 86212-89104 are the parts you are looking for. I just bought them about 2 weeks ago from the site above. They are currently installed on my 87 4Runner.

Once again for anyone stumbling upon this thread in the future, the radio brackets from a 90 4runner/89 Pickup and newer WILL NOT fit in the previous generation. I grabbed a pair from a 93 4Runner and the eye to eye spacing was too large for my 87 4Runner. Also the height difference between the two mounting surfaces was different.
