WILL a 22r 4x4 1985 rear diff work in a 22re 4x4 1992 rear end??ear
I have two trucks. One is a 1985 solid axle carbed 4x4 extended cab. The other is a 4x4 1992 short box pickup.
My question is can I swap the rear diff from the 85 into the rear of the 92 and it will work no problem?? are they the same?

They will swap, no problem.

BUT.. they are NOT compatable unless the gear ratios are the same in both.

I dont know much about gearing. How can I be sure they match?

You can pull them and count teeth, verify pinion and ring gears have same number.
