Why??? So many Vacuum lines!

So check it out! I have a 1992 Pickup with the 22re (as anyone could guess that right?). I pulled the motor because it needed a head gasket and when I pulled the head realized the timing chain guides were destroyed. ???? Never seen anything like this before. I believe it was overheated at some point severely, head gasket was junk of course and needed new everything basically. It had an idle issue only after completely warm and seemed to be a result of the blown head gasket or so I thought. Motor dropped in everything is buttoned up and back to normal. It has the same idle issue only after engine is completely warm. It will idle really rough and sometimes stall when coming to a stop. Checked the timing and all is well. Think I have vacuum lines right but not totally sure. When I pump the brakes it seems to get worse too! ??? Any ideas? Thanks

Besides the timing, you also have to set the idle speed when fully warmed up. Should actually adjust both timing and idle at the same time since adjusting one will affect the other.

You may try to disconnect and plug the vacuum line to the EGR valve to make sure that in case the vacuum lines are routed incorrectly the EGR valve isn't being actuated when it shouldn't be.

If the head gasket was actually an issue and the engine was run like that for a while, it could have fouled the catalytic converter causing it to become plugged or restricted, but that should cause issues when could as well as when warm.
