Why not use Rad hose for ISR mod?
Hi, I bought a '90 4runner 3.0 a while back. Just starting to dink with it.
The ISR mod is my next project: a piece of pipe installed between airbox and plenum using 2.5" radiator hose couplers.
I was wondering if I couldn't find a 45? radiator hose from a tractor or something, cut it to fit, install nipples with washers on the inside and outside and a sealer or glue applied, and call it good?
For air intake, a rad hose will certainly last as long as the couplers used in the pipe version of the mod. It would be simpler to perform, and would eliminate the restricted access to dipsticks described by some modders.
Has anybody tried the mod with 2.5" hose? Got tips for a rad hose that is a good fit?
Other thoughts?
Thx!

OHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
See, that answers my question perfectly!
I had no idea radiator hose would cost more than a buck or 2 per foot.
$20/ft! Cowabunga!

yup...if someone around you has a mandrel bender you can buy the aluminum pipe off ebay for $20 shipped and have it bent to your needs! or if nobody close has one, do what i did and cut it into 2 pieces and use rubber connectors to piece it together.
