I have constant white smoke coming from my tail pipe. I know that means coolant, so I checked it. I am not losing any coolant and I have no leaks anywhere. I am losing oil....no leaks...so I am assuming I am burning it off somewhere. I know oil doesnt cause white smoke though. Could it be condensation in the fuel lines or tank? I was going to add a bottle of heet but I haven't done that yet. It was doing it before I seafoamed it, and still afterwards. Does it when its cold, when its warm, idling, and driving.

sorry i should mention its an 89 3vze automatic. Rebuilt with less than 1000 on it

how cold is it when its doing it, water is a byproduct of the catalytic converter, when its cold outside its not unusual to get white smoke out the tail pipe from the water that's created in catalytic converter. where i live when we get super cold like 20-30 below 0 F every single car on the road has plumbs of white smoke coming out the tail pipe.

that does make quite a bit of sense. It has been way colder than usual. I live in Olympia washington and its been 33 or below and snowing. thank you for the insight. Never considered it

Whats the temperature been like there? I'm assuming below freezing in Olympia, Wa.
Where did you check for coolant level? Check both the radiator and the reservoir/overflow bottle?
Does the smoke dissipate or does it linger in the air? Does it smell sweet? Does it look thick?

Up here, below about 25F, I get white condensation smoke 90% of the time the vehicle is on. The colder it gets, the more there is and the more often its there while the vehicle is on. When it's below 0F, I get white smoke all the time. Its just your hot exhaust vaporizing the water in the air.
When the HG on my 22re was going, it was billowing white smoke. It was thick, a little darker than the white condensation smoke I was used to, and it would linger in the air longer, usually not float up into the air.

the smoke dissapates immediately and yea its been below freezing. I never thought of looking in the reservoir too. Derrp. I just checked under the rad. cap.
