where are the terminals

where are the terminals you need to jump when timing the engine? the chilton's book i have says its on the inside of the passenger fender but i don't see anything resembling what they have

what kaind of truck do you have. it is usually on the pass fender somewhere under the hood. it is the diagnostic port, and i beleive it is e1 to te1. look for the diag. port neer the fuse box. it will be gray w/ a flip open top.

on the fender right behind the battery. as stated above you flip up the top, on the inside of the top it will say which terminal is which.

i drive an 86 4runner. the only box on my passenger side is the main fuse box, that's why im so confused as to its location

i found the terminals, and i *tried* to set the timing at 5. it would only get to 8 before i had to change the alignment to the camshaft, not whe won't even start? i'm confused
