Where should I set asking price on 87' Runner?

So I need to part with the 4Runner, ran a few ads in the past and people seem to think I'm asking too much for it.

It has a rebuilt top end (New head, valves, lifters, timing chain, alternator, starter, and radiator), 121,000 on the body and frame. Small rust areas on tailgate and below fuel door. Typical midwest surface rust on the undercarriage.

Soooooooo......let's see what you guys would reasonably pay for it.

Much appreciated!

It rides fine. Tires could use replacement.

I'll tell you my asking price after I get a few more responses.

Thanks for the feedback.

Rust ouch. If you were around here I'd recommend a million dollars that's what they try to get for toyota gold in these parts. My father-in-law just bought an 87 like your for a grand with no rust. So somewhere in between.

what are you asking for it?

I just bought an 86 same body cndition, rebuilt engine, trans, transfer, new head and timing chain, but 184,000 miles on the clock for $1800, but I got a good deal and yours is newer I'd say Kcrunner is pretty close on the money. It isn't clean enough to be worth more but It is a nice rig.

The rust is the only bad thing. Either way though if that rust is normal for your area i could easily see 3000 or a little under that. If the truck were from out here on the west coast and it was in that condition it would sell for 4000+ easily. my friend sold his 22RE single cab 87 pickup which had been in several accidents and had over 200k on it for 4000 dollars

All right.

I bought it for $4000 two years ago, did the work to the engine, and listed it for $3800 because that's what they go for around here, and the local Toyota club thought the price was right on.

yea if it was here in bend it would fetch 4k or more, but thats without rust. But if that kind of rust is normal for your area which it seems it is then i dont see why the price would be much different with the body in that kind of condition. I would bring it down to like 3500 but no lower then that especially if the local club seems to think 4k is a fair price.

I've had several people offer $1500 for it. I mentioned that it had a removable top, and they had no idea that 1st Gens could do that, so apparently they really didn't know much about these trucks. Interior is really nice, lots of new stuff.

I'm not going any lower than $3500; if I have to keep it I will find a way.

Thanks for the feedback guys!!!!

Paid $750 for my 87 with 2 bad front axles & a bad Alternator. AZ truck tho - so Zero Rust. 156k miles.

With that Rust I think $3500 is quite high.

It always comes down to supply and demand. If the demand will pay x,xxx dollars than your golden, if demand will not pay x,xxx dollars than your fauked and need to readjust you pricing. I payed 2,500 for mine with know rust, in retro spect I don't think it was worth it.

On the bright side, there's a fool born every minute and you only need one.

$2500 to $3000, unless local demand is higher than average.
