Wheel spacers, how safe ?.

I eventually want to upgrade the front brakes on my 86 4Runner with vented rotors and V6 calipers, but i think i will need some wheel spacers for the larger V6 calipers to clear the rims. I have 15''x 10'' steel rims and with the stock calipers in place i only have about a 1/4'' of space between the stock caliper and the rim, so if i have to get some wheel spacers how safe are they to use ?, has anyone ever had one break or in some way fail, or are they pretty safe to use ?. (my 86 4Runner has a solid axle up front)

^^ Like he said, just make sure you install them properly. A bunch almost all the wheelers here use them and I have not heard of any problems with them. I use them too

Make sure you seat them evenly and use locktite.
