Okay. I have an 86 p/u. I have a set of chevy steelies w/ 4.5" offset. Will i need wheel spacers to avoid rub? (2 inch BL, 31x10.5s) rather than cutting the center out of the wheels to make them fit the hubs, would wheel spacers let me get away with not cutting the centers out? or am i just being lazy?

any thoughts would help, thanks.

I might be talking out of my butt here but I don't think a 10.50 wide tire will rub at all on a stock rig. Since you have a lift the extra backspacing may not be an issue.

Okay... What about the hub fit? Will i still need to make the center hole bigger? (my truck is at my parents, 2 hours away, right now, so i'm unable to mess around with it)

ya know... 4.5" offset means little.
0 offset means that where the hub meets the rim is in the middle of the rim.
offset is how far the hub mating flange is from the centerline of the rim.
Telling me you have 4.5" offset.. considering I know nothing else about your rim... means you're running a 'deep dish' type rim where the hub is very close to the inboard edge of the rim.
If it's an 8" wide rim, a 4.5" offest means the hub flange is 1/2" further inside than the bead on the rim.

I stand humbled and corrected. The term I wanted was backspacing. That said, I have 4.5 inches of backspacing on my 8 inch wheels. I seem to remember people suggesting 3 to 4 inches of backspacing. I appreciate the correction on that.
